Rainbow Kennels is John and Margaret Thomas, and our sons, Alex and Aaron. We began with German Shepherds and just recently added Belgian Malinois. Maggie got her first German Shepherd Dog in 1994. She was quite lucky to get a top-quality dog in her first attempt. She was so impressed by the attitude and working intelligent of this dog, that she decided to do more research on the breed. After countless hours of research and numerous visits to other kennels, she realized just how lucky she had been with her first dog. The overall quality of the GSD fell short of what she expected it to be. With this, she continued her research, but changed her focus to looking for a breeding mate for her first dog. Her search took her outside her state, and even to the other end of the country before she found a dog suitable for her purpose. She found all of what she was looking for at Fliescherhiem Kennels in Texas. Maggie has since obtained several dog from this respected kennel. One of Maggie's beliefs about breeding working dogs is that they must WORK!! For this reason, Maggie and her son Aaron dedicate numerous hours weekly into the training and trialing of all of their dogs. They are both members of Peach State Performance Dogs and train several days a week with this club. Maggie was looking for a sport to compete in with her dogs. She considered Schutzhund and other protection sports. Once Maggie and Aaron got their first taste of NVBK (Belgian Ring Sport) they were hooked. Maggie and Aaron are both members of NVBK-America and are active in training for the sport. Maggie obtained her first Malinois while attending a NVBK-America seminar. She was impressed with their ability to work and their unmatched drive. Since then, she and Aaron have obtained two more Malinois. |
